Enjoy a day out with a leisurely cruise along the River Orwell to Shotley Marina, taking in all the fantastic scenery, boats and the abundant wildlife.
You will go through the lock into Shotley marina and disembark to enjoy a delicious two course Fish and Chips lunch (vegetarian option available) at the Shipwreck Restaurant.
This will be followed by a guided visit to the fascinating HMS Ganges Museum in Shotley Marina (NOT including the Ganges Mast shown above which is at a different location) before rejojning Orwell Lady for your return trip to Ipswich.
HMS Ganges Museum now holds memorabilia from the old shore establishment including honours board, figurehead and clocks. The Museum is also home to a very large collection of photographs and original documents relating to life at Shotley, which are of value to both casual visitors and researchers alike. In addition a small number of documents relating to old ‘Ganges’ when afloat are now becoming available to the Museum.
